Anti-American

We work beneath the sun,

our sweat feeds the soil,

our hands pull up wealth

while our tired blood boils.

We work for them,

on hands and knees for them,

coming from a land

that dares not question them.

And they dare call us anti-American?

We live without question,

but fear drags us down.

We are just as much a part,

but we are still torn to the ground.

We sing the pursuit of happiness,

but their satisfaction is lorded over us.

Our lips are tied, our shackles tightened,

and in tears we cry.

And they dare call us anti-American?

An older political poem I wrote, decided to make it the first of my small works I'd submit here. Your feedback is appreciated.

And yeah, I know it's too short for the possible length of the intended message. Maybe someday I'll fill it out.
