A Generation, Lost: Modern PakistanGreetings all!

While this post comes amid election season in several nations such as Bulgaria, I felt it necessary to take a closer look at Pakistan this time. My reasoning for this is because Pakistan is key to combating the power of the Taliban, especially in relation to Afghan stability and progress. However, I also wish to address the outcome of Pakistani elections because Pakistan seems to have lost an entire way of life over these last few decades.
I define Pakistan as lost due to the way the nation’s governance has been dominated over the years. For the most part, there have been two major political forces in Pakistan; conservative parties, led by people such as Nawaz Sharif, and the military/intelligence structure. All the while Pakistan has been engulfed in attempts to spread influence to Afghanistan by corrupt leaders while pointless wars with India have been fought. The Worst: Private Prisons In AmericaGreetings all!

This post comes shortly after the death of Margaret Thatcher, the conservative leader of the United Kingdom during the 1980s. Her rule was marked by a dissolution of British labor protections in favor of privatization and large capitalist-driven growth. By the end of her rule, stagnation and civil unrest marked her leadership, although she remains a significant figure in British politics to this day. And while my fellows and I may feel no remorse for our criticism of her, I do not rejoice in death. Even though I’d love to embark on a full critique of Thatcherism, tonight I have reserved a piece which I consider one of my best among my body of work here. Tonight, I write on private prisons, and how the very nature of these institutions is wrong and they should be abolished.

The My Lai MassacreWarfare is not a time for much kindness. War is the explicit act of forcing another to act a certain way regardless of how the other feels. Even with this, there appears to be a certain set of rules concerning warfare for every culture through the ages. The ancient Greeks would often slaughter all the males of a city, enslave the women and children and destroy the city because it was the common way to conduct victory. Actions like these would be shunned in today’s society with the saturation and prevalence of media that would report any overly offending actions like massacring an entire village and rightfully so. It is easy for the modern world to look back on the actions of the Greeks or Romans who crucified thousands of Spartacus’ rebels in their ill fated rebellion and call these societies barbarous despite both being shining examples of human power and ingenuity. If you'd like a request, please be either very specific or very general with what you say. If you are specific, I know exactly what you want, and can know not to deviate much from your desires. If you are very general, please note that I WILL take creative license and do as I think I should. If you are unhappy, it will be partially because you weren't clear enough with what you wanted.

I prefer that if you have a request, send it to me in a note. Other than that, you can still send requests to me by commenting on my page, journals, art, etc. But please know that I will be most likely to notice your requests if they are in a note.

As of today I am now a co-founder for #FreePoetSociety. I am glad to take such a position, seeing as I do have a certain soft spot for the melodic art of words. And while I'm no good at rhyming, I do write poetry from time to time, although I'm more used to short stories. I hope to contribute well to the group.

This is probably the one spot you'll ever see my real face. As for a bit about myself, I'm a seventeen-year-old kid living a life not too different from many others. The two main things you'll see of me on here are my political interests and my fanaticism as a brony. I'm a Trotskyist, meaning that I believe in a branch of communism, but don't let that scare you; I'm not out to kill. However, this is a big part of who I am, so expect significant amounts of my work to be literature on general politics. As for being a brony, I joined the fandom after the second season at the suggestion of a good friend, notably

. I enjoy the show more so than most any other I have ever watched, and it has inspired me to do something entirely new to me: visual art. I'll be doing some drawing here, and I just hope that the show lives on. The fandom is so enthusiastic and welcoming, I just love it.

Definitely. Although I'm kind of in the camp of Cornel West and Terry Eagleton in that I haven't exactly lost or discarded my belief in a God? I dunno, it's weird but I'm definitely a Marxist, most likely a Trotskyist. Been reading a looooot of Marxism this year ranging from Raymond Williams to Ho Chi Minh (for clases that is)

I'm not very orthodox when it comes to Trotskyist thought; I don't even consider myself a Marxist, really. I simply align with him because his ideas are the best to identify me. I actually think I'm a bit further left and more libertarian than he was, though.

I wish my classes made me read that kind of stuff. My high school mostly requires reading of old English classics alone. Few modern texts or political thoughts are allowed.
